Being a member of UFCW Local 1059 confers many benefits. Below are several of the benefits offered through the UFCW Local 1059 Executive Board, the union discount website UnionPlus, the UFCW Discounts program, and more. Remember, it PAYS to be a member!

UFCW 1059 Executive Board
The UFCW Local 1059 Executive Board has authorized programs such as the Membership Assistance Program, the Child Car Seat Program, Commemorative Bible Program, and Membership Orientation Refund Program to assist members.

Ray Collier Memorial Scholarship
UFCW Local 1059 awards a $1,500 college scholarship in memory of former-Union Representative Ray Collier. The scholarship is awarded at the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists MLK Day Brunch and Awards Ceremony each year.

Union Plus Benefits
Union Privilege is a nonprofit organization founded by the AFL-CIO in 1986 to provide excellent consumer Union Plus benefit programs exclusively to union members (current and retired) and their families.

UFCW Discounts
UFCW Discounts is offered through LifeMart, the members services platform that provides discounts on everyday products and services that add up to a lifetime of savings.

UFCW Charity Foundation Scholarship
Each year, the UFCW Charity Foundation awards several scholarships of up to $12,000 each to UFCW members or their unmarried dependents under the age of 20.

Union College Benefit powered by Edvance
More than 200 online programs across a network of accredited schools, at discounted rates for members and their families. Certificates through master’s degrees, built for people who work shifts. Started college before? Edvance schools are transfer-friendly, so prior coursework may count. A Student Success Coordinator helps you find the right fit, and eligible family members can use the benefit too. There is no cost to explore.

U-Learn College Benefit at Franklin University powered by EBS
UFCW Local 1059 members and their families can take unlimited associate’s and bachelor’s level courses at Franklin University for just $5,250/calendar year. Scholarships and/or grants reduce tuition for many students down to $0 for out-of-pocket costs. Free textbooks. Online or on-campus learning available. Complete an EBS Pathway Form for more on the program.

Learn a Foreign Language
Whether it’s for travel, for work, or just for fun, UFCW’s Free Foreign Language Program offers members the ability to learn over 70 languages for free online.

Workforce Essentials Courses
UFCW members can take free, advanced learning courses to sharpen your skills and access career advancement. Learning new skills and honing your current abilities is a key factor in promotion and career opportunities.

Get Your GED
UFCW members can take General Equivalency Diploma (GED) classes at no cost through the UFCW International Union’s Essential GED courses.

Navigating Medicare with RetireMed
UFCW Local 1059 has partnered with RetireMed to provide a health insurance resource for those preparing for retirement. This benefit is open to UFCW members as well as their family.
